Have you ever been going about your business and suddenly, BAM! Some cute project pops into your YouTube feed and you have to stop everything and make whatever that project is because it’s so darn cute? Or is it just me?
That’s what happened a couple weeks ago. As I was perusing my YouTube subscriptions page I saw a new tutorial posted by one of my favorite creators, ComplicatedKnots. Immediately I knew I had to make it! Before long I was crocheting along making my very own toad!

And her tutorial: Making Toads

I didn’t have scrap yarn at hand, so I pulled out some crochet thread I use with tatting and a tiny hook and got started! He turned out so stinking cute! He reminds me of the Boreal Chrorus Frogs (Pseudacris maculata) at our local wildlife refuge, Fontenelle Forest.
It Didn’t Stop There
Oh no my dear friends, I didn’t stop at just one tine cute toad (frog)! After finishing my little guy I was on the hunt to find scrap yarn so I could make a proper big boy!

First I found some left over bright lime green yarn. To go with that I pulled out the left over yarn from the Christmas tree skirt I had made. That yarn was white but has a thin iridescent metallic thread going through it. Can I just say it went perfectly with the green yarn! In the light the sparkle in the yarn reflects the same green as the yarn in the frog (toad)!
After finishing that cutie pie I came across my leftover dark sage caron simply soft and paired it with off white scraps and viol’ la, another frog in the family!

My little Frog Family
For now, I have three absolute cuties in my little frog family. I cannot promise that there won’t be more made. This is such a fun and easy tutorial and the finished product is “chef’s kiss.”
